Monopoly
I was working in London today and decided to walk down to St Paul's to have a look at the anti-capitalism protest. It was quite lively and crowded with a strange mix of media (lots of photographers and cameramen), tourists and, so far as I could tell, more tents than protesters. The mock Monopoly Board is towards the front of the Cathedral. The original version, created in 1904 by Lizzie Magie, a Quaker from Virginia, was itself anti-capitalist. Lizzie Magie belonged to a tax movement whose theory was that the renting of land and property led to an unearned increase in land values that profited the few rather than the majority.
