Flood waters
We're lucky in our village because, as you can see from this photo taken from the bridge over the river Thongue, most of the houses are well above flood level. The river is higher than it has been over the summer, but still within its banks here. The terrible storm that has hit the Midi over the past 48 hours has been headline news and our département, l'Hérault, has been one of several on red alert for heavy rain and possible flooding. Some areas have had up to 300 mm of rain in a few hours. This morning the alert level has been lowered to orange but some low-lying areas must still be at risk as the high waters descend from the mountains. We needed water, and now we've got it!
