Water of Leith

Our walking group set out on the first leg of walking the Water of Leith route, starting at Balerno. An awful lot of the time was spent on the bus and we were like a school class behaving badly at the back of the bus, dear dear.
It was a very nice day and we very much enjoyed the 'autumness' of it.

Whilst ambling along, glancing through the camera lens and generally enjoying birdsong and beauty, I was inspired to divulge in a little philosophising to someone who happened to come alongside me. With great emotion I prattled on about how it is not at all surprising that with taking in with the eyes all the splendour that one sees and forming it all with imagery that then the poets wanted to express this with images in words. Well, something along that slightly boring frame anyway. And then feeling sure my companion would find my words very profound turned to her and she poised her walking stick and pointed deep down at the water and said, "Yes, it makes you wonder now, how did that red ball end up there at the waters edge, do you think some child was there playing."
