Dunnock

Here's one of a pair of Dunnocks (or Hedge Sparrows) that were sitting on the arbour. There are a lot of them around the garden at the moment - almost always seen in twos or threes - displaying and chasing each other over fences, round pots, along the border etc. They're overlooked by most people (even some bird-lovers) but I like them. They have beautiful brown eyes and streaky backs and their sex lives are remarkable; few have one mate and most are either polyandrous (females have more than one male mate) or polygynous (males have more than one female mate).
