Gold Dust
You can see the fine dust floating into the air as the wind started to blow. This is an old mine dump and there are hundreds (380 to be exact) of them scattered around the Witwatersrand. They are the remains of the Golden Days of Johannesburg. New reports suggest that this dust is radioactive and housing developments will need to be moved away from them.
Today was our 17th wedding anniversary and we have actually been together for 25 years! Unbelievable how fast the years go by. We were high school sweethearts and lived out the fairy tale. In fact we were married on a hot Sunday very similar to today. We had a morning wedding in a beautiful hotel venue with gorgeous Jacarandas in the background of our photos.
We have had a wonderful life together with many wonderful memories and some tough ones too. Our strength as a couple I think comes from us being each other's best friend. Our proudest achievement are our three children, who although are quite challenging, are also quite amazing people. I love you Mr G and know we have many more happy years ahead of us!
We had a great day today. Mr G and I went riding on the Harley through Muldersdrift, Krugersdorp, Hekpoort and Skeerpoort. It is so relaxing sitting on the back of the bike and having the best view. We covered most of The Cradle of Mankind area which is a World Heritage Site. We stopped for a light breakfast at Garden World nursery before continuing on our way home. A special day just for the two of us.
We decided to start our braai tonight only once the sun went down. It is a relief after the heat of the day. The aroma of the braai is just delicious and I can hear the crickets chirping under the stars! An excellent end to the weekend!
