Birks of Aberfeldy
These berries are pictured above the main waterfall on the Birks of Aberfeldy walk. The white is the foaming falls.
We walked the route in the afternoon after meeting up in Aberfeldy where an autumn festival was in full swing with a band in the village centre belting out "Whiskey in the Jar" as we arrived.
Travelling up, the whole of the central belt was in bright autumn sunlight with the one exception being the village itself which was still shrouded in mist.
Burns wrote the Birks O Aberfeldy and the path is set out to commemorate and celebrate the bard including displays with the first three verses
The braes ascend like lofty wa's,
The foaming stream deep-roaring fa's,
O'erhung wi' fragrant spreading shaws-
The birks of Aberfeldy.
On to a stay over at "The Inn on the Tay".
