Spooky Moon shot
Driving home in to the setting sun I diverted to the canal to try to get a tree silhouette but it was too late.
The moon was reflecting in to the canal so I snapped the pic hand held. I see that it gave itself 1 sec so it's acceptably blurry I suppose given the effort I put in.
I listened to Melvyn Bragg this week on the topic of the moon. It's a quarter the size of the earth (seems much smaller), it has a pear shape and the bulge points to earth, and it is moving away from the earth at a rate of 4 cm per year.
It no longer rotates on its own axis and offers the same face to the earth all the time. Eventually, the earth will similarly stop rotating and offer one side to the moon.
Oh I hope it's our side. Can't wait to find out :)
