Let there be Light!

There is sun in the mediterranean!!!!

We woke to a blue sky and bright sunlight.

Here is the village where we are staying (Aspiran), photographed as Mme and I were sent shopping to the boulanger for croissants, pains aux chocolats, and the like, for breakfast. Here is a respectful village cat outside the shop!

Although it became partially cloudy later on, we went out to look at the medieval village of Nebian, just a few kilometres from Aspiran. To our amazement, the Morning Glories are still flourishing in November. Not so at home!

We decided on a fairly long walk in the garrigue above the village. Wild thyme grows profusely here, as do many other aromatic herbs. The smell relesaed as one walks is intense and fabulous. Also around are olive trees like this, still bearing olives.

Wide-angle pictures of landscapes usually turn out pretty nondescript, but I hope that this picture gives an idea of the magnificent mountains all around us..

When we had finally scrambled down from these fine cliffs on our walk, we finally saw the setting sun illuminate the plain of the Hérault.
