The Big Cheese

There was an Italian market in Leatherhead today. This cheese stall was really lovely and I had quite a long chat with the guy running it.

This is called a provelone mandarino and it one big cheese, although it looks like a squash. It is about two feet tall so really is huge ... but I bought something else for tomorrow's dinner table, a nutty kind of half parmesan half cheddar type thing.

The stallholders were wrapped up against the damp winter day we were having, every last one of them. Nice people the Italians but they can't hack the English weather ...
