Rememberance

I knew what shot I wanted today. I knew where it was and that the light was delightful for taking it in the later afternoon as the glorious sunshine turned into golden shadows. I got the shot and you'll see it on the Posterous site, it's the second shot down - the poppies on the fence with that lovely dappling.

However having got that I started trying to get these young folk in the same shot as the poppies. This paved area is a large piazza outside Sessions House which is the headquarters of Kent County Council and on Sunday it seems to be a meeting place for young people to enjoy the sun and practise their skateboarding skills. As many of the men and women we remember at this time of year were the same age as some of these skateboarders I was taken with the idea of getting them in the same shot.

Time for my little rant - We've allowed the media in the UK to demonize young people yet the evidence suggests that they are no worse (or better) than previous generations. The adults now frightened of hoodies might have worn leather jackets or parkas, Ben Shermans or Dr Martens. Let's give them a break and some space?
