Laugh away the dark clouds.

I thought about writing lots of things today and now that I've sat down to do it, my mind is a complete blank. Suffice it to say that we've all really appreciated the way so many people have remembered and thought about our family today.

We received a card from some of Craig's uni mates a couple of days ago....

Many of us have now moved away from Dundee to pursue careers and further study. We have spread out to various parts of the UK and a few have gone further afield, but we are all still very fond of Dundee and meet up there when we get the chance. Getting together and reminiscing about pour time there all the hard work and all the fun, all the good times we had with Craig is always a great pleasure. I don't doubt that Craig is in no small part responsible for how well we keep in touch and support each other in all our new pursuits...

I would like to express again, our gratitude to you for letting us know what had happened so quickly and for inviting us to Craig's funeral. IT was so important to all of us to have the chance to come back to Dundee and to say goodbye to our wonderful friend whom we all miss greatly.

Thank you so much guys. Please know that we could never have done it any other way. You were all really important to Craig and now to us too. It is through us that Craig's memory will live on.

I remember listening to him playing a Johnny Cash CD over and over again in the last few months of his life. Then it seemed morose and maudlin, but these lyrics stuck...

And he could laugh away the dark clouds
Cry away the snow
It seems like only yesterday
As down the road I go

... and boy was he good at that! So, laugh away the dark clouds, it's what he would have wanted. If you make it to this neck of the woods anytime, let us know. We'll take you up here to see this view from the bench you helped us put in place in Craig's memory.
