The Packhorse bridge.
Yesterdays walk from Ripley Castle, near Harrogate.
Fog, and drizzle! I'm sure this was not the forcast!!
It would have been a lovely walk if we could have seen the surrounding countryside.
This is the packhorse bridge over the River Nidd. near Birstwith.
A really beautiful spot even in the murky weather.
Called The New Bridge built in 1822 to replace an earlier single span bridge which stood 25yds up stream. They probably used some of the stone from the old bridge to build the new one. It is part of the ancient packhorse route between Otley and Ripon.
Hope you had a good day.
