Steaming bounty
The grey morning was cheered by the quilt class where everyone is working on wonderful bright projects and ready to chat and drink coffee in the process. We were joined today by a lady from a neighbouring class who brought in four amazing quilts for us to look at and even though she is probably more expert than any of our group we were able to hand on at least one tip to her - that is the beauty of this hobby.
A quick lunch of fruit and yoghurt and then Cara and Bruce made it known that they couldn't contain their patience any longer. As I drew up at the usual parking place a tractor and trailer were parked sideways, taking up the space of about five cars. Before I had time to feel even slightly annoyed on behalf of any drivers arriving after me I noticed - in fact probably smelt first - that the trailer was laden with rich, steaming horse manure! To any gardener worth his/her salt it is a glorious sight. So I leapt out of the car, camera in hand and took a quick photo noticing, as I took the camera from my eye, that the driver was looking at me rather quizzically. So I smiled cheerily and gave him the thumbs up, at which point he started to draw away, undoubtedly convinced that I was a bit strange! Anyway, just in case the first shot had not caught the atmosphere I quickly took a second, which is this one. Although it may not be a perfectly composed photo it does show the steam! I have to leave it to the imagination to conjure up the aroma!
The dogs were still sitting patiently in the boot, so I freed them to run amongst the fallen leaves and majestic ferns which, though a russet brown now are still standing tall. There were a few other blip possibilities as we walked but I was hopeful of the steaming manure........isn't it is amazing what blippers resort to when there is no sun to help them!
