Anchorhandling
Eight weeks ago I showed a picture of inshore anchorhandling. That was peanuts compared to the real work you see on this picture. The 'Hermod' has twelve anchors of 22 Tons each. They are connected to a 76 mm diameter steel wire and finally the 'Hermod' will look like an giant spider with twelve legs of 1500 meters each. The weatherforecast showed nice weather for today, but there is a moderate and nasty swell running, still from the north. After all anchors are out, the 'Hermod' will pull herself on these wires back to the platform and put the hydraulic gangway on the platform.
But before doing that, every captain should ask himself:
Will your anchor hold in the storms of life,
When the clouds unfold their wings of strife?
When the strong tides lift, and the cables strain,
Will your anchor drift, or firm remain?
