Out of Darkness #11

I have come to the somewhat worrying conclusion that my children are trying to send me to an early grave. This deduction has come about after a bit of late night (actually more like early morning) dramatics.

We were abruptly awakened by Brody coughing, spluttering and, rather alarmingly, gasping for breath. A rather panic-striken 5 minutes passed and he wasn't stopping so we made the decision to call for help. An ambulance arrived literally within a few minutes and a few minutes after that Brody had calmed down a bit but was still struggling for proper breaths. The paramedics decided he needed to at least be checked over at sick kids. Thankfully when they arrived he was a lot better and after a once over the Doctor said he was fine to come home. Susie asked what we should do if it were to happen again and there wasn't really a definitive answer; "hope it doesn't happen again" was a fairly obvious statement.

Tonight we've covered him in vicks to try and keep his airway open a bit more and raised one end of the mattress to keep his head a bit higher. Hopefully that will help but I've got a feeling Susie and I will not get much sleep through worry more than anything else.

Kids eh? They know how to put you through the wringer.
