I know that the major shopping centres have had their Christmas lights up for an age already, but this is the first house around our way to have erected their outside lighting. This was the closest to the path and hence the easiest piece of the display to photograph. It is a very large house with extensive gardens and a very big roof.

It is thanks to modern festive illumination systems that this residence requires marginally less than 3% of the national power output each evening to light it.

BTW, I know this is not the earliest known xmas lighting, as a few years back I used to pass every day, a house at Rivenhall End in Essex, which, from late October onward would have more lit Xmas inflatables than you could poke a stick at.
