This is a scale model of Uranus. The signpost behind it tells you that the scale models of Saturn and Neptune are, respectively, 2.5km and 2.8km away - all to scale. So much empty space! It is part of a wonderful scale solar system running along the disused railway line from York to Selby, which is part of the National Cycle Network now.
While this is a great use of a disused railway line, you wonder what stupidity closed the line in the first place. There are between 2 and 4 buses an hour running from Selby to York from about 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. That must be enough passengers to run a rail service. Plus all the people who drive because the buses have no first class option (!).
