Happy Teacher's day.

On the 24th November you always feel it's a great thing to be a teacher here in Turkey. Kids, parents and supporting non teaching staff all greet you with a "happy teacher's day" greeting. Some kids bring in cakes, flowers and chocolates to be shared. This photo is a close up of an incredible knitted scarf handmade for me by my student's aunt. The gifts are sweet, albeit unnecessary. The respect to our profession handed out is priceless. I hasten to add there is not a day for every profession. This is one of the legacies of the revered Atatürk who held teachers in high esteem.
So to all my teacher colleagues abroad, I raise a glass to you all too.
