Collision Course
This looks like a serious collision course with the 'President Hubert' but it is not. What you see here is actually the 'Saving Money and Preventing Dirty Engines Mode'. The water depht is almost 150 meters on this location and that is just a little bit too deep for our own windlass. So when the weather improved we connected our spare anchor to our tow wire and dropped it over the stern and paid out 500 meters of wire. The 'President Hubert' gladly accepted our offer to moor on our bow. Fuel savings optima forma. Not only good for cost saving aspects, it is also much better for our main engines. Big diesel engines have to deliver power, they like it, the Chief Engineer likes it and it keeps them clean. Stand by duties with hardly any power settings is a crime for workhorses like our MAK engines.
By the way: to check if there is any danger for collision, you only have to check the bearing of your opponent regularly. If you see a car (or ship) approaching on three o'clock and he stays exactly at three o'clock; prepare yourself for some serious impact.
