Commanding

I spent some time in Winchester today.
This stautue of King Alfred stands at one end of the main street and dominates everything. It is really imposing.
I wonder what he was like in real life? Quite something I should think, as long as he didn't go near the kitchen! I wonder if the legend of him burning the cakes is right.....I think I'll go and do some research!
