View from the castle
Today's Friday walk was a little different. We travelled to Rockingham and did five miles in the beautiful countryside surrounding the castle and then we did the castle tour. We were shown round by a lovely elderly lady dressed as the housekeeper. She described beautifully what life would have been live there below stairs four hundred years ago and added her own brand of wit. After the tour and a warming bowl of soup and a glass of mulled wine, we climbed to the battlements to take in the lovely view down to the church and the countryside beyond. Another great day...
