Razor and Scissors.
The guy in the foreground of this very busy barber shop, is Santos who is the manager. He is originally from Delhi, but like a lot of people in Goa, migrated here to work. He opens the shop at 08:00 and is frequently still there until 11:30 pm. He is lovely guy and says that he charges everyone the same price, Indians, Brits, Russians, Finns, Swedes et al. 20 rupees for a shave, 30 for a haircut, 50 for a head massage. The shave is a marvellous luxury, and will probably stay comfortable for a couple of days. He even spotted my ugly toenails and gave me a very good pedicure. He cuts ladies hair as well and the Russian ladies are regular visitors. I am afraid he charges the ladies 100 rupees, but will not give people like me who are follically challenged any discount. If you have to wait he will send out for a cup of tea from the chai wallah, or a bottle of Kingfisher from the offie. How very civilised. It would be churlish not to leave anything but a generous tip.
