Panjim ferry.

If you take the crowded bus to Panjim, you get off near the fish docks, and take the free ferry across the Mandovi river. It is a unique experience and one that I would reccomend. If you cross by the bridge, the police check all motorcyclists to ensure they are wearing helmets, and that's why the ferry is jammed with foot passengers, cyclists, scooterists, motorcyclists and fishwives, and even cars. Of course no-one wants to wait and as soon as the ferry scraes ashore on the other side the people there clamour to get on before the present occupants have disembarked. One of the deckhands issues a savage ballocking in Konkani and the proceedings become a little more orderly. When you get off there you are at almost the centre of everything.
