Happy 176th birthday, Mark Twain (real name, Samuel Langhorne Clemens).

He once said of Manchester "I would like to live in Manchester, England. The transition between Manchester and death would be unnoticeable."

I'd like to think it's improved since he said that. This photo of Manchester city centre at about 2.30pm might not do much to convince of that today.

Lots of police about because of the march in support of those on strike over pensions.

Despite what politicians might say, us public sector workers aren't the money grabbing demons we're made out to be.
