New Home - Day Two
My name is Archie and I am a sinner.
Phew. What a day I had yesterday.
Up early for a pee in the dark and rain. Some "homework" in the form of more sit, wait, come here, lie down, LEAVE it sorta stuff.
Then we had a new game called "in the box". This game was easy because I'd alreadybeen taking myself off into the crate for a wee lie down so I didn't really mind going into it for a biscuit reward.
Then it was back to the stable yard to "do" the horses.
I was terribly dissapointed to discover that "doing" the horses didn't involve ripping their throats out.
Instead, I was tied up whilst there was another load of faffing about with buckets and rugs. I helped though, by shouting instructions from the safe confines of the wood pile.
Once the horses were out I was allowed to investigate the empty stable and had a rare old time rolling about in the smelly straw. You wouldn't BELIEVE the size of the poops - they were bigger than me !
Another human turned up with yet another Border Terrier - Border2. Border2 was far more polite than Border1 who had growled at me the previous night. He was quite a regal chap and he sat in front of me looking like a Chinese lion with an inscrutable expression on his face. We decided that we would get on real fine and shared a walk together after the stable chores were done.
Back home again and I discovered that although the Nippy Wee Wifie doesn't mind me being wet and muddy, it no longer extends to carrying all the muck into the house.
Before I even had a chance to think about saying "no thanks", she had me gripped by the neck, up on my back legs and rubbed me all over with a towel.
I suffered the indignity in silence - and it was worth it to hear all the praise I got for it.
Chill out time while I dried in front of the fire was followed by another game of "in the box".It was great, because this time I got to get a wee sleep in the box afterwards.
Late afternoon saw us walking in the field beside the house and I got to find out where the rabbits sleep.
I met Border1 again at night time when we walked to the stables. He was much more friendly and he even taught me how to crawl under one of the gates instead of having to be heaved over it.
I slightly disgraced myself when one of the horses put its head down to say hello.
I managed to sorta snap at his nose even though I was on the leash.
It stamped all its feet and snorted at me. I thought I was going to get my head kicked in but Nippy Wee Wifie saved the day by sweeping me down to the floor with one hand and pointing a finger at the horse with the other.
The horse stood like a rock and I froze to the spot on the floor.
Pointy finger obviously means business.
Border1 gave me a reminder lesson on crawling under gates and then we were off for a jolly wee walk together.
I was knackered when we got home. Too knackered to protest when the towel came out again and very pleased to have another game of "in the box" so that I could get a wee lie down.
I slept like a log all night.
So far today I've had two walks, played with Border2 again, done the stable duties and met a Highland Bull. Tonight I'm hoping to meet up with Border1 again for some more gate lessons.
Nippy Wee Wifie says we are going out this afternoon - we're going to be buying me a harness and some toys and doing something called "socialisation".
Sounds like fun. Lots of opportunities for sinning.
I'll let you know how I get on.
