The Dead Centre of the Village

Well, that's what my Dad always calls the graveyard, but then he is 85 and is allowed to be a little unPC.

Daizy allowed me a lie in till 6am before demanding her walk. We went through here. I find it a fascinating place and, when the light is so good, rather beautiful...if that isn't macabre!

This particular cemetery like the vast majority in Cyprus is Greek Orthodox but, unusually there are a few Brits buried there. Tom told me that village muktar (council leader) could request that non orthodox people be buried there...usually people who had lived in the village for many years...and the Bishop usually granted the request. One of the 2 little crosses in the foreground is the grave of a British man. It takes about a year before the big headstone and surrounds are put in place. In the background are the older family plots.

I had a great time in Paphos, really relaxing despite doing a few hours work each day. My only regret was that I couldn't thank all the well-wishers for their messages for my 100th blip immediately...that's my next job! But my little balloon has already burst!

If you read this before I get to thank you, then consider it done!
Thanks everyone.
I hope you have a great week.
