Glow in the Dark
Late this afternoon, just as the sun was slipping away, we had finished a romp in the Eastvale dog park with our three pooches; with them back in the car, we were driving toward home when the sky started blazing. Eastvale is a brand new city (of almost 50,000 residents) that used to be nothing but dairy farms.
A few farmers, mighty stubborn I think, didn't sell their land to the housing developers and did not move their cows north to Idaho and Montana. As color consumed the clouds Mr. Fun stopped at one of the few remaining dairies and he captured this photo of the sky and the cows dining while their eyes glowed (without the flash the cows were in the dark). I laughed outloud when I saw the row of glowing eyes.
This has been a good day. I started the morning by having breakfast with Tami, one of my colleagues in the English Department. She is one of the newest instructors in our department. It was delightful to get to know her better. One of the frustrations of our jobs is that most of us who teach on the same staff seldom hang-out to have fun together. So sharing a meal together was good. She and I are going to be teaming-up to help the part-time faculty who teach the basic composition course that both of us teach. We're hoping to have better results with better communication, so I think it is fitting that improved communication starts with the two of us having some time together. Our time at breakfast, however, was not lengthy nor leisurely because we both had a 9:00 to 12:00 English Discipline meeting to attend back at the campus. The English faculty have lots to sort through and discuss . The English department/discipline is dealing with many issues currently and I won't bore you with them.
One of the best parts of my day was taking Chloe, Mitzi, and Max to the dog park so they could run, jump, and play with the others. They have pure fun at those places and we never see them run faster than when we are at one of these facilities. One thing they can't get enough of is kicking up the lawn with their back paws. Our backyard is mostly cement and swimming pool, so fresh green lawn is a luxury to these three. Once they were back in the car they were all tucker-out; so we knew we could leave them in the car and they would just sleep, while we stopped for a delicious Italian meal.
The weekend is here for that I am thankful.
Good night from Southern California.
