Gold Against the Soul

Evening all.

Went on the protest march through Barnsley today to protest about the public sector pensions amongst other things.

It was very heartening and very surreal to see people lining the streets to support it and applauding and offering supportive remarks all throughout the march.

The assembly point was very near this statue of the great eccentric and great cricket figure and character Harold 'Dickie' Bird, so i thought it was definitely worth a blip as Dickie is enshrined and enmeshed in my memory as the great authority figure and role model in cricket, who seemed to command the respect of all the players, despite or because of, his constant worrying and foibles...

now there was a leader of men.... wonder if he is considering a career in politics?
