Red-Billed Quelea

'Breeding male has a black or white mask, ringed with pink or dull yellow, and a bright red bill and legs.' - Sasol Birds of Southern Africa (Third Edition)

I had so much fun today. Our bird feeder has had a few new visitors - this being one of them. Today I managed to get a lot closer but I had to pump up the ISO, hence the killer noise. I'm still impressed with my pic.

Tomorrow we are going to the Jacaranda Carols by Candlelight at Supersport Park. We have been doing it for the past few years. I hope the weather is kind to us. We usually like to get there early and enjoy our picnic before the singing starts. Some of my favorite local artists take part - Kurt Darren, Nianell and Romanz. It is really a special evening. I have told myself that I am taking only one lens and my tripod - cross fingers for me.

It's been a slow start to Josh's holiday and Bradley cannot wait for his to begin. Not long to go. They have been told they will be getting their reports on Thursday which sort of nullifies going to school on Friday - we'll just have to wait and see. He was given a free pass for tomorrow but he has decided he'd like to go.
