On the move
This morning I woke up after a very fitful night - too much excitement. Off on my holidays and reaching the Spotlight for the first time! Thank you all so much for the stars and hearts for my wee robin.
The night had been very cold and although there had not been more snow, everything was very white and crisp. My suitcases were ready in the hallway and I showered and breakfasted just in time for my lift in to catch the first train. The countryside was looking fabulous as the train sped away towards Edinburgh, which was my first change. I had about half an hour to wait for the train to Preston and it was really cold and draughty at the station so I spotted the Costa Coffee shop and ordered a Hot Chocolate. My blip is of the suitcases and the chocolate - which was superb and warmed me up perfectly. The train to Preston, the Transpennine Service, was very comfortable and perfectly on time. I noticed at one stage passing Carstairs Junction where you could see the Carstairs Mental Prison very clearly, standing isolated and stark .against the white snowy background, surrounded by very high perimeter fencing. Further along the route were large forrested areas with the snow transforming the pine trees into a Christmas wonderland.
I have now arrived safely at my sister's house where it is still very cold outside but damp and wet as opposed to dry and frosty. I hope I will be able to catch up on sleep tonight now that I have actually started my journey.
