Burial Mound
The most notable feature of the archaeological heritage of Bahrain are the numerous burial mounds, sometimes labled as the world's largest ancient cemetery, which are scattered at numerous locations over a wide area of Bahrain.
In spite of the tremendous urban development witnessed by Bahrain over the last 30 years, there are several burial moundsites which still remain, like the Burial Mounds of Hamad Town, Buri, Jari al-Shaikh, Aa'li (Royal mounds), Janabiah, Jannousan and Shakoura.
