A Helping Hand
Work today and not many Blipping opportunities, as the members were filling in worksheets throughout the morning session and making bird cakes(fat balls) this afternoon. So, what to Blip?
On the way out, I noticed a window in the new extension of the building which seemed to tie in with the stained glass theme we had been working on.Unfortunately, the light was fading, so no sunshine to illuminate the window, yet the message was still loud and clear.
The glass design was inspired by a painting done by a ten year old girl. She won a competition run by the local town council several years ago, whereby local schoolchildren submitted their ideas and interpretations on what the centre is all about. She drew a helping hand in the tree of life, suggesting that we should support people who are less fortunate in so many ways.A huge vibrant yellow sun in the corner was shining out, showing that, we as a staff, try to brighten the day of anyone walking through the doors of this very special building. The picture conveyed the principle of the centre -providing a helping hand and helping people in need.
I guess this fits in with My Christmas pics too and demonstrates what Christmas should be all about- - - - - caring, sharing and loving our fellow men.
"The difference between a helping hand and an outstretched palm is a twist of the wrist."
