'This is the Day'

Just a quick visit to upload this picture a day late and to briefly thank everyone for all the lovely comments on yesterday's Blip.
Had a wonderful day with Number One son, sight seeing, visiting the Xmas market in Greenwich, ,dining and simply spending some quality time together. We visited the Painted Hall and Chapel at the Naval College in Greenwich and I was spoilt for choice with pics to take(some 400+ over the period of the entire day!!)It was bitterly cold but on the plus side, it gave us clear blue skies.
In the afternoon, we got the Clipper boat to London Bridge, visited Southwark Cathedral, browsed around Borough market, then walked the South Bank from London Bridge to Waterloo, stopping off for more good food and cuppas on route.
My feet were throbbing by this time but more was to come.Instead of returning home, Fraz headed me to The Royal Albert Hall, where he had booked a 'box' as a surprise. The hall was packed to capacity. We were about to see John Rutter's ' Christmas Celebration.' The Royal Philharmonic was joined by members of the Bach choir and the younger choristers from the cathedral we visited earlier in the day.
And----what a celebration it was, with a selection of traditional carols and popular Christmas songs , interspersed with some fine community singing and other audience participation.Just the thing to put everyone there in the perfect Christmas mood. The atmosphere was electric.
We were priveleged to hear the first performance of an orchestral piece, written to accompany one of a series of short films for the 2012 Olympics, composed by Rutter himself.
Perhaps the highlight of the evening was the rendering of the piece written by him for the Royal Wedding. This anthem was specially commisioned for the wedding of Prince William and Catherine "Kate" Middleton by the Dean and Chapter of Westminster Abbey.
The words struck a chord with me as earlier in the day, I had a phone call from hubby saying that ,after a month of waiting, my official letter had arrived in my absence, DISCHARGING me from the hospital after five years of treatment !!
The words consist of verses from Psalms 118:24; 148:1-3, 5a; 91:4a, 11; 121:5-8 and 27:16b.
The first and last lines have particular significance for me:
'This is the day which the Lord hath made: we will rejoice and be glad in it.'
'Be strong, and he shall comfort thine heart, and put thou thy trust in the Lord.'
It was indeed a most WONDERFUL day and a personal 'CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION' for me!!
