Couldn't help feeling sorry for this solitary gull, looking a bit miserable on the railings - all by himself. Usually you find them in gangs, all lined up looking the same way - or making a right old racket screeching about when someone gives them some bread.

Whatever had happened to make this one all on his own? Had he been chucked out of his gang? Had he done something indescribably bad? Had he just lost his significant other?

But more to the point - did he have somewhere to go for Christmas .................?
