Some Days

The Firegator

It was a frosty morning today, and the golf course was closed for a time, at Archerfield.

So this was our cue for...

The BIG bonfire!

We collect the fallen branches etc over the year and on frosty mornings, when we can't dig, mow, plant or even effectively sweep-up, we start to burn them.

The golf people don't like us to have fires when the course is open, in case the golfers object, so days like today are perfect.

It takes us the entire winter to burn this wood (especially this year after all the winds, and the brash from last week's fallen beech to dispose of).

We could burn it all in one day, but then what will we do on the next frosty day!

Enjoy your weekend, everybody. Mine is going to smell very much like bacon, kippers, and cheap cigars until I have had enough showers!

PS No Gators were harmed in the making of this blip.
