Daily Bread

The whole family, except moi, visited The Museum of Medieval Stockholm, today!

This specific exhibition about the 'Daily Bread' says: 'Investing in a baking oven was a costly matter and so there were a very large number of bakers who, apart from wheat and rye bread at established prices, sold fine pastries such as cakes and semlor (Lenten buns). Possibly the townswomen did the same as those in the Continent and kneaded their own bread, which they then took to the baker to get it baked. At the same time Olaus Magnus writes that bread 'baked at the birth of a child keeps quite well without going mouldy until the day of its betrothal'. According to the tax list for 1460 there were eight bakers in Stockholm.'

I was just too tired to join them, I enjoyed a day of leisure at home, did a wee bit of washing, some browsing on the internet, e-mails, blip comments and took a nice relaxing bath! Pure bliss!

It was really cold and wet outside, rained the whole afternoon and by the time the other six arrived back home, they were totally pooped!! Hiehiehie!!

M&Z treated us to pancakes with cinnamon sugar for supper, then we watched some music DVD's and ate popcorn, and of course, we were chatting and laughing like it's going out of fashion!! Woohoo, super quality time together!!

Time to go to bed now!! All of us are almost fast asleep now!!
