O Come all ye Faithful
Christmas has now definitely started for me with tonight's Carol Service! It's a service which brings all the churches and chapels together, a great spirit of fellowship. We sing a combination of traditional English carols and we also have some Welsh carols.
The leader of the service is brilliant; he is a typical fire and brimstone preacher from the old days and is a passionate Welsh speaker. He conducts the service and the carols, and is a stickler for getting it right, like tonight we had to re-sing the second verse of 'O Come all ye Faithful' because we got it wrong. He also translates the Welsh carols into English so that everyone can understand and enjoy them.
I know I'm biased but I love the Welsh language, it sounds so passionate and full of meaning. Sadly though I can't speak it and it is something I need to rectify.
Here are the words from tonight or listen to the professionals here
O come all ye faithful,
Joyful and triumphant,
O come ye, o come ye to Bethlehem;
Come and behold him,
Born the king of angels;
O come, let us adore him,
O come, let us adore him,
O come, let us adore him,
Christ the Lord.
God of God,
Light of light,
Lo! He abhors not the virgin's womb;
Very God,
Begotten not created;
Sing, choirs of angels,
Sing in exultation,
Sing all ye citizens of heaven above;
Glory to God
In the highest;
Yea Lord, we greet thee,
Born this happy morning,
Jesus, to thee be glory given;
Word of the father,
Now in flesh appearing.
