Birthday Amaryllis
Today was my Mom-in-Law's birthday and we had a a family lunch at her house. We used to have meals together at least once a week until we moved out of town. This Amaryllis flower was one of the gifts she received today and next to it is one of her favourite ornaments. She bought it in Bangkok, carried it around everywhere on her holiday and even held it on the plane trip home. I think it was worth all the trouble as it is very beautiful!
My day started early as I had some baking to do, I had promised to take my often-ordered apple cake for tea. It is always nice to be the first one awake and get a few things done before my household create their style of chaos. Since I had the flour and eggs out, I decided to make waffles for breakfast. I had also made a fruit salad yesterday, so our breakfast turned out to be quite delicious for a Sunday. While making the waffles I cracked open an egg which had a double yolk. Is that meant to be lucky? I hope so!
Lunch today was homemade lasagne, a family favourite. Our family of 5 joined Bobba and Zaida, brother-in-law M and his partner R, sister-in-law N and adopted siblings P and B. We enjoyed eachother's company and had a relaxing Sunday afternoon. Our drive back home, which takes about 45 minutes, was also enjoyable as we watched a purple and orange sunset. A great end to our weekend!
While uploading some of my weekend photos onto Facebook I realised what a rainbow of colours I had photographed. From the many flowers I had captured to the unusual sunset tonight. I titled the photos " The Colours of my Day!"
