The Dinner
Today we had the dinner advertised on the blip of the 14th.
It was daughter-in-law Joanne's Cousin and her two teenage boys, Aunt and Uncle up from Monmouth. What great company they are, we laughed from the moment they came through the door until they left about 6 hours later.
I think Lennon was the only one that spotted me taking this Blip as can be seen from the grin on his face at the other end of the table.
The dinner was a bit of a test run for next Sunday, Christmas Day, as we had a whole ham (pressure cooked to get the stock for soups and finished in the oven with cloves etc.), a huge shoulder of pork roasted until it was falling apart (put it in at 0730 and took it out to rest at 1200) and also tried out a Jamie Oliver recipe that we saw just a few days ago. It's the 'Turkey Wellington' that is cooked in stages.
Recipe is at the following link but it's not as complicated as it looks because he has included making a stock and gravy. I got a single breast from Morissons supermarket butcher, they quite happily split a Turkey crown so I could have one breast. We split that into two (following the natural line of it falling apart) so we had one today and will have the other (already made and in the freezer) on Christmas day.
