Solstice

This year the winter solstice occurred today at 5.30am rather than yesterday. After my Christian greeting to you yesterday, today I'm reminded of how from times even earlier, people have celebrated the rebirth of the sun.

To see whether the sun was in evidence today katkatkat and I, along with about 20 other people visited Castlerigg Stone Circle, Cumbria's best known henge. Kat had never been before so it's a pity it wasn't a better day. However, we're determined to get up early and go again next time she's here.

So an interesting start to our day and a good ending: The Mother took us all out to Troutbeck for a lovely meal. We are still in celebratory mode!
