....A mother and child.....
A Spaceman came travelling : Chris De Burgh
Awake at 4.00 a.m. to the sound of the fire alarm! Got up, checked everywhere .......no fire....what set it off?.....no idea......the Daughter suggested the cat farted! Just as well it was a false alarm...the Boss never moved.
Back to sleep until 9.30! The longest lie in I've had in about 10 years!. Out at 10 to deliver the last few presents and cards....met up with the boys...weather absolutely shocking, torrential showers every 15 minutes or so..
Phone call from the optician....glasses ready for collection a day early...so the Boss and I went into town....Jesus was it busy...Christmas must have sneaked up on a lot of people...like Fred Carno's circus out there.
Spent the rest of the afternoon tidying everywhere....."Just in case"....just in case what?....the baby Jesus decides to drop in?....the Queen calls for tea?....Pope Benedict decides to visit?
Out at 6.30 with the Boss, Son and Heir, the Daughter, Young Helen and Charlotte for Dad's Christmas treat....dinner..........Charlotte was quite taken with chips, garlic ciabatta, cucumber....but not too keen on my warm goats cheese.
Now we're all back home, Charlie is asleep, the Daughter is out on the razzle and us grown ups are slowly demolishing some beers and wine.
Tonight was my sixth pre-Christmas event in 7 days....had a quiet night in last night....until that bloody fire alarm!
Christmas Eve tomorrow and the Boss has just informed me we need more Rose wine and some Hellman's mayo so I have to go back down to town early in the morning.......a Dad's work is never done! She'll be expecting me to make some stuffing and carve the turkey next!
