Birch steeple

The Parish Church in Littleborough dates back to 1471. This morning, 540 years on, there were three types of people in the churchyard: worshippers, a bloke taking photographs and someone collecting numerous empty bottles strewn by revellers the evening before. There were once here some stocks, a pillory and a ducking stool, all used for punishment. We now have to make do with anti-social behaviour orders and fixed penalty notices.
