Tradition
After all of the festive cheer the last few days I was quite thankful of a day of rest before I go back to work tomorrow. Having woken up this morning and stuffed my face with left over party food, and continued through lunch and in to dinner with much the same from I'm feeling quite like the turkey. Stuffed.
We were talking about traditions today and how despite the English culture we all have our personal traditions when it comes to Xmas. A family favourite of mine is on Xmas eve. We cook the turkey, have a bath, put on new pyjamas and then have a hot turkey sarnie with a big fat pickled onion at about 9 pm. It's the little things that make it so special.
A friend of mine recently moved back from germany and carried on an old family tradition with an English twist (for her English husband of course). They get up at 3am and cook a fillet steak on the griddle. This is then chowed down with lashings of tomato ketchup (the English twist). Now that's a way to start off the festive feast.
