Feeding time!

The sourdough starter is ready - hurrah - New Year, new starter! Today I transferred it from the nice warm proving bowl to the fridge. It needs feeding regularly to keep the yeast alive but apparently starters or mother doughs can go on for years and years. Developing their own unique flavour as they age.

I thought I'd leave myself a little reminder to feed it regularly. Now the starter is in the fridge and the sponge is bubbling happily in the kitchen - tomorrow the dough and final proving before baking & hopefully my first ever sourdough loaf :)
