Eat Local!
Been toying with challenging us to eat only food produced locally. Realising that may only be potatoes, eggs and meat - broadened the definition of local to Scotland.
Did a stock take today, on the left of the picture we have Scotland (but forgot the porridge oats), on the right we have the rest of the world!
The middle ground is difficult - no tea, coffee, tomatoes or lentils? Then I realised that Scotland is not known for its fine red wines! Oops!
Had planned major mash up of all "foreign" foods before I go back to work on Wednesday but sense prevailed. We will use up what we have but only buy local foods to re-stock.
Question is can I live without tea, coffee, spices and wine? Of course not! So I will pretend I got them by barter on my last imaginary trip in my sailing ship. Premium orange juice and tinned tomatoes are prescription items (available on medical grounds ha ha!) although I could pretend they were grown and preserved from my own garden!
We'll see how it goes I love rice and pasta but Scottish root vegetables are excellent as is our seafood and meat!
