A little bit of history

This is an English Oak (Quercus robur) at Fairmount Cemetery in Denver. It was planted in 1890 when the cemetery was laid out. It is clamied to be possibly the largest Quercus robur west of the Mississippi river. The scar at the base is from a direct lightning strike in 1957.
