The start of a New Year. On the west beach at North Berwick.

Fitting in some ways - my 1st summer holiday was in North Berwick, so it is a special place.

Sad in others - we were there to visit my ancient mother, who enjoys the sea air (vicariously) from her nursing home close to the beach.

Fun - because we got fresh air, a little gentle exercise, some daylight (precious in Scotland in midwinter) and even a glimmer of sunshine.
