Day 2 - saluting the sun
1. Woken at 4am with the call to prayer, which is eerie and a bit scary. I wake again about nine and head up to the roof terrace to see the city in daylight for the first time.
2. I am alone on the terrace, me, the blue sky, the sun, the oranges. I am delighted to be doing sun salutation. In the actual sun.
3. We are the only guests and have breakfast alone. The first day of a new country's breakfast is always good. I paint my toes in the sunshine, then we head out.
4. We just plan to walk today and take in the souks, then the mosque, then up into the French quarter. We get the hang of it and find the place we fnacy for lunch. Everything happens on the roof here. A lovely lunch of cous cous on the terrace, a walk along the city walls and back to the terrace for a snooze in the sun.
5. On our hosts advice we go to a local place for dinner. Slouched on big cushions we make the most of the menu. Home for a mint tea night cap.
