One Direction
Well, the weather is still abysmal, in spite of the weather forecasters prophesying otherwise. Nevertheless, we drove out to Kirk Hallam where a few waxwings had been seen. We found them quite easily (the phalanx of birders with giant telescopes and cameras was a clue). They did fly down and perch quite close, but no good pictures because of the murky conditions.
The rain sent us back to the car and off we went, back to Nottingham to have a look at how the peregrine falcons were getting on, perched on top of the Newton Building at the university. One solitary bird sat looking down on us and a few (less than average) frames later, we turned again, Whittington-like, to be confronted by a growing mass of teenage girls outside the Concert Hall, all screeching in unison for "One Direction!", who I assume are a boy band.
I raised the camera for a quick shot and this girl saw me immediately, breaking into a wide smile and giving me a wave. I gave her a wave back and decided she should be today's blip because she made me smile when I was freezing and ratty.
