New feathers

I took over the care of an Indian ring neck parakeet two year ago. His name is Peanuts. He is a very handsome bird. He loves me to bits. Every opportunity he gets he flirts with me. (Very good for ones self esteem!)

Every year December he sheds his feathers. He looks very "sick" and every year I want to take him to the vet. Soon the new feathers come out. At first looking like a hedgehog but soon the sheath come off and the brightly colored new feathers appear. Then he really looks handsome!
